During his hearings as potential Sec of Defense, Former Senator Chuck Hagel refused to provide details on his financial windfalls as a speaker and "an advisor". Junior US Senator Ted Cruz said: “It is at a minimum relevant to know if that $200,000 that he deposited in his bank account came directly from Saudi Arabia or North Korea…"
The response? Quite a few people came down with a case of the vapors.
"He just laid out there all of this accusatory verbiage without a shred of evidence,” - Senator Claire McCaskill,
"McCarthyism!" - Senator Barbara Boxer
"Don't be disrespectful or malign his character." - Sen John McCain.
“Out of bounds, quite frankly." - Senator Lindsey Graham
But Harry Reid can accuse Romney of a Federal crime on the Senate floor during an election and …nothing?
