Many interesting things going on the past few weeks. There’s been the non-recess recess appointments, that followed the recess non-recess law giving the government the authority to detain Americans without charges. There’s all the hoopla around the GOP primary and the various polls that claim nearly everyone will lose to Romney, and Obama will lose to everyone BUT Romney. We have the “War of the Pink” between the truly valuable Susan Komen Foundation and the infanticide factory also called Planned Parenthood. That will teach you to take back your money from a government-funded abattoir.
Still, one of the more interesting things this year so far is the swing of the Catholic Church toward some semblance of sanity. After all, if your faith and religious dogma stands against abortion, how could over 50% of you support this pro-abortion President? Unless of course you’re “Catholic” like Nancy Pelosi, or Joe Bidden. Let’s face it, if Nancy were Jewish, she’d be having pork ribs with fresh boiled shrimp and a cheese burger for dinner tonight.
So the Obama Regime has refused to give Catholic hospitals a faith-based waiver on the provision of free birth control pills, prophylactics, and of course abortions. Because these hospitals will be forced to work under the Obamacare laws, they will be forced to do things that are in direct conflict with their faith and values. They also happen to be in conflict with a lot of different religious values, but the Catholics are certainly more widely known for these beliefs.
Let’s pause here for a moment and take a line from the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights. You know, the amendment that supposedly gave the OWS crowd the “right” to illegally occupy public property, at least until they stunk up the neighborhoods. The same first amendment that is cited by all those on the left any time they want to burn a flag, as well as any time they want to silence prayer in any location but a church, and they’re working on that. Yes, that one, the one that supposedly calls for the “separation of church and state”. To quote the amendment, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; ...” That seems a bit definitive, doesn’t it? Keep in mind that this is the very first right protected in the Bill of Rights. It precedes free speech, even (heaven forbid) the free press. The Founders felt that Congress should never be allowed to make any law that prohibits the free exercise of religion.
Now, if you’re Catholic and forced to give an abortion because of a law passed by Congress, isn’t that law a direct violation of your freedom of religion? Isn’t Congress violating the First Amendment by passing that law? And, just for fun, isn’t every member of Congress who voted for that law, those same people who took an oath to uphold and defend the very Constitution that contains that First Amendment, in violation of their oath? Are they not thus impeachable for said violation?
As much fun as that type of thinking could be, the Catholic Church has chosen instead to take a different path. They have decided to reverse, as a voting block, their support for this President. This is no small matter for Barry. There are nearly 73 million Catholics in America today. If all of them were to vote for Obama’s opponent in the coming election, it is unlikely that there would be a second Obama term. If you add in the fact that many Jews are leaving the Obama camp because of his nearly frigid position on Israel, you can count almost one third of voters already against Obama, and you don’t even know who the GOP is running. Not looking too good for Barry and the Liberal Bunch.
As fun as THAT type of thinking can be, it is unlikely to come to fruition this election cycle. You can imagine that the recent announcement from Catholics of their position has already rippled through the Obama campaign camp. They are already making plans to appease, and possibly even reverse, Obama’s position, at least until he gets re-elected. Barry will do everything he can to keep his chair in the White House, including caving on this issue to keep Catholics in his corner. If there is one thing you can count on, it’s that Obama will never forget number one.
