LADDIES AND GENTLEMEN
Interesting how that introduction is used so much today, yet so few of us actually know how to act like ladies, or gentlemen. When was the last time you saw a gentleman hold open a door for a lady? Without getting insulted by the “lady” for being such an ass as to think she couldn’t open the door herself. And did you hear her thank the gentleman? Likely not. But this matters not, back to the big announcement.
2012 IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER
By that I mean, as you are reading this, you have likely already completed your plans for New Year’s Eve and are readying your resolutions for the coming year. Resolutions that you will likely, like most others, fail to complete and happily forget by March. You should not be ashamed. Many don’t even bother to make resolutions these days. Or they make so many that failure is assured, and the only thing they achieve is an increase in personal guilt, and possibly a few extra “Shake Weights” next to the BowFlex.
But again, I digress, as seems to sometimes be my inadvertent practice this time of year. It is difficult at times to cook up things about which to scribble each week, much less to stay focused on a single topic. Not that Obama and the looney left haven’t given us ample fodder for each cannon. I really am not complaining, you see, just providing some insight into the challenges that we face here at Brushfire each week. But once again, back to the announcement at hand.
THIS YEAR, THERE WILL BE AN ELECTION FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock on some distant Earth-sized planet, you are likely aware of this fact. You are also likely aware that this coming election will shape this nation for decades. That this is the one real shot we have to put the brakes on the Socialist agenda being pushed by Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. That giving Obama another four years could well mark the end of this nation as we know it. That you need to get behind our candidate, and get your friends, relatives, pets, dead relatives, illegal immigrant neighbors, and everyone else you can think of, two vote early and vote often. That is the Chicago way.
Ok, maybe I went a bit overboard on that last part, but you get my point. Whether it’s Perry, Gingrich, Bachman, Paul, Larry, Mo, or Curly, we gotta get these left-wing statists out of office. Our motto for this election should be “Anyone But Obama”. So let’s get this primary stuff done, done quickly, and focus on the real issues:
- Obamacare must go
- Government must be reduced, starting with the Nanny-state entitlement programs
- Perpetual unemployment checks must be stopped if we are to expect people to go back to work
- Taxes must be reduced, on business and on the workers, in order to increase revenue for the government
- Increased government revenue should be used to bolster our military and secure our borders
Reality is, the left is driving this nation to socialism and must be stopped. If given more power they will solidify the damage they’ve already done. Taking the House slowed progress, but Obama, with no need to garner votes after his second term, will use his executive seat to push his radical, statist agenda, with or without the support of Congress. He has already demonstrated a shocking willingness to do so, frequently, without pause. Once the leftists grow the entitlement class beyond 44%, they will be able to maintain power in perpetuity, and the downward spiral of this nation will likely be unstoppable.
SO GET OUT AND VOTE
While you still have the right to do so. That last statement may seem extreme, but keep in mind how these liberals work. They create a crisis, one that often does not exist, then devise some solution which does nothing to address their crisis, but does push forward part of their agenda. Think lightbulbs and GE. Think Obamacare. Think hairspray. Just think.
Now, how unlikely would it be for them to create a crisis that required us to “skip” an election or two? They’ve already skipped passing a government budget. The liberal Congress has not passed a budget in nearly two years. That’s why they keep having the quarterly “government shut down” crisis. It’s not a long leap to think they could, “postpone the election until the nation is past this horrible crisis”. Sounds oddly like something Obama would say, don’t it?
