Brushfire of Freedom

The media has not stopped talking about the new Obama jobs program. Tons of promise for the future of America. There’s some “revenue generation” and some spending cuts. It’s a great balance, at least according to the sycophants in the State Run Media. If you love Obama, you’ll help him get his plan through.
Bullshit.
The “plan” is nothing more than another stimulus. You know, the “shovel ready” jobs that we had last time, the big spending that we had last time, the promises of employment to union workers, and the plan to “pay for it all” via taxes on the “rich”. Just like the last two stimulus plans, Obama wants to reduce the deficit by spending more. He wants to “create” and “save” jobs, just like last time. Trouble is, if the last time was so good, why do we need another? You don’t have to look beyond the current proposal to know the last one was a failure. If the ideas that Obama is proposing really could save the economy, create jobs, and boost growth, why would we need to do it more than once? Or twice? What is this, third time’s a charm?
The only reason this stupidity is allowed to continue is that there are so many people so heavily invested in Obama he has become too big to fail. Well, almost. There are some cracks in the Obama defense perimeter.
For one, the chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus has said that if Obama wasn’t President they would be marching on the White House. Now what do you think Obama being president has to do with it? So, because of something stupid (I won’t say, but you know), the CBC is supporting stupid. They know it’s stupid. It’s the kind of stupid that makes them mad enough to want to protest. The kind of stupid that comes from watching nearly 20% of their constituency fall into the ranks of the unemployed while their president repeats the same mistakes he’s already made. Twice. Yet they refuse to call it what it is. It’s just stupid.
The media of course has been a big part of the stupid support. They hide or ignore stories, or play down the impact of zero job growth in August. They fail to report the changes in growth rates from previous months that indicate the failure of their favorite president. They admit, surprised, that they really know nothing about Obama, his policies, or his philosophy. This conveniently ignores the fact that, as our “free press” they are responsible for answering those questions for us. This has the effect of supporting stupid with stupidity, then admitting it’s stupid. That’s a level of stupid not seen in this millennium. Or the last.
Not all of the stupid is slipping through, and many Americans are refusing to buy the stupid any longer. Obama has some of the lowest approval ratings of his presidency. There is talk of a challenge to Obama by Dems during the primary. There are even a few who are whispering that maybe, just maybe, Obama should forget the re-election campaign and step aside, for the good of the party.
Some media outlets have begun pointing out what we have been saying for years. Obama’s tax increase on the “rich” will mean tax increases for a lot more than just the “rich”. No less than the Chicago Tribune, Obama’s home town newspaper, thinks he should withdraw from a presidential campaign that has really not even gotten started. Despite years of carrying water for the sinking Obama presidency, many media outlets and business leaders are beginning to step back and think twice before signing on to his latest proposals. The light is coming on and there are signs that the support for stupidity is fading. We can only hope that this trend will continue through to the 2012 elections. Otherwise the stupidity will continue for four more years, with or without support.
