Oft times you will see my rants contain comments regarding the failure of today’s media outlets. They have become nothing more than propaganda posts for a corrupt and rotting government, and have left the responsibility of reporting truth to those of us in the “new media”. Not that I mind the opportunity, and note I do this without the normal press perks, access, and accolades. Still, it is worth the time now and again to cover some of the continued failures of the lapdog press and remind readers that there is a devious agenda in action involving our formerly free press.
Evidence of the media failures comes courtesy of none other than Donald Trump. Don’t get me wrong, I happen to admire Mr. Trump and truly believe that were we to meet we would have a great deal to discuss, and a good bit in common. He is clearly a successful businessman, embodying the American spirit of entrepreneurism that is easily admired. Further, any person who has the tenacity and personal fortitude to pursue the office of President of the United States should be admired and lauded. It is not an easy task, particularly if you tend to lean a bit to the right politically.
That being said, it is unlikely that Mr. Trump will receive the nomination of either major party. He is flamboyant, overly divisive, and tends to polarize people. As a public figure for many years, he has both supporters and detractors. While his business acumen is unquestionable, his ability to govern is in evidence even less than that of Senator Obama in 2008.
This does not mean that his candidacy is pointless or in fact fruitless. Mr. Trump has managed to bring into the spotlight a subject that those in the state-run media have to date dutifully avoided. The subject of course is the true heritage of our current president, Barack Hussein Obama. I’ll not state an opinion one way or the other on Barry’s birthplace. His citizenship is a matter for himself and the US Government and, at least at this point, he is a US citizen. That being said, one must still ask why he has spent millions of dollars in hiding a basic document that many of us keep in our home offices. This is the question that Mr. Trump has forced the media to address.
Had the lefties in the lapdog media establishment done their due diligence before the 2008 elections, then this question would not be valid two years after the inauguration. Their silence and obfuscation on the matter has resulted in this remaining a potential point for debate even today. Mr. Trump has simply forced them to address the matter in the context of the coming election cycle. This alone makes his candidacy a valuable asset to the American people as it may well help close the matter one way or another. Today, several states are considering legislation that will require valid evidence of citizenship prior to inclusion on an electoral ballot. This matter will only heat up as the political field begins to fill and candidates begin to realize the opportunity. The media will be left with few options but to report the matter, likely frustrating Barry and his band of liberal loonies.
The danger for the left at this point not only rests with Obama but with the leaders of the then Democrat-controlled Congress prior to the election. They certified Barry as eligible prior to the election, making his candidacy possible. Were it to be discovered that Obama was not a US citizen, those who signed the certification might find themselves under charges of impeachment, further marring the Democrat party. Not only is Barry in danger, but so is Nancy and Harry. Thus you’ll find the left doubling down on the position that those who question Barry’s heritage are nut jobs and extremists. They had hoped that the media would continue to carry that message, but Mr. Trump has foiled their plan.
The media has failed as well in reporting the gas price issues. Only recently have they noted the increases, well after gas has hit $4.00 per gallon nationally. Their assumption was that prices would drop again, just as they had under Bush. This is because they continue to fail in their primary responsibility, finding and reporting the facts.
Libya is another example of failure by the media. Reports of our expanding role in that war-torn region go largely unreported by a free press that shows more signs of government control than Pravda. Berkley students may need to Google “Pravda” to understand that reference.
Obama’s plummeting approval rating is still another example of the failed media. While the slightest dip in Bush poll numbers were trumpeted hourly for days on end, Barry’s meteoric crash to new lows each week warrants only marginal news coverage by his sycophantic followers in the state-run media. It becomes clearer each day that the press have shirked their responsibility as watchdogs of the government, instead accepting the scraps from the hand of their master in the White House. Their silence speaks more loudly than any headline, and their complacence creates a dangerous precedent. Fortunately you have Brushfire and others like us, and we will keep reporting what we see. Perhaps one day we will push the dog from the lap of its master, and awaken the media to their responsibility. Were that to happen, Mr. Trump’s candidacy would be well worth his effort, and will be marked as a turning point in American history.
