Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho, These Union Parasites Have Got to Go

Brushfire of Freedom

As of this writing, the GOP in Wisconsin have done an end-around on the SEIU and the Obama regime and managed to put a cork in the perpetual flow of tax dollars to the Democrat party. Or, as the AP stated, they’ve “stripped” the collective bargaining “rights” from the unions in Wisconsin.

So let’s start with the whole “stripping” thing which since yesterday has gone from Armageddon to the opening of the seventh seal.  What the legislation actually has done:

  • It takes away the union’s right to bargain on health care and pensions.  Obamacare eliminated the need for health care, and pensions won’t be needed once we get Obamacare.  What’s the problem?
  • It limits pay raises, capping them at inflation levels.  For those who do not know, all US government pay raises, including social security and those of our military, are aligned with inflation levels.  Unions can still bargain on salaries, so this “right” hasn’t been quite “stripped”
  • It eliminates automatic dues collection which means if you don’t want to be part of the union, you don’t have to pay union dues.  This seems to makes sense to most Americans since none of us like to pay for things we don’t want, i.e. Obamacare.   This is not a bargaining point so much as a free-flow of cash, confiscated from every state worker in Wisconsin and funneled to the Democrat party.  More on that in a moment.
  • It requires each union to be re-certified each year.  This means union members will have to vote each year to say they still want a union.  This also is not a bargaining right so much as the elimination of the perpetual parasite that is the public sector union.
  • It also requires public-employee union members to contribute 5.8% of their pay to pensions and pay 12.6% of their health-care premiums.  So unions are upset because they will have to pay for things they want, and they want anyone with a state job to pay union dues whether they want to or not.
  • Police and firefighters' unions are exempt.

So, for those keeping score, one “right” was stripped, not from those who risk their lives, one right was capped (to prevent future budget over-runs), and the rest, not really bargaining.  The GOP, elected into the legislative majority by the majority of the people in Wisconsin, is trying to save the state, reduce the deficit, address budget shortfalls, and prevent future deficits and budget problems.

Democrats are still hiding in Illinois.

Democrats are hiding because they know that their union bosses would not fund their next re-election campaign if they had voted for the Walker plan.  They also knew that voters would not vote for them in the next election if they had voted against the Walker plan.  Unions get their money for the Democrat re-election campaigns from union members.  In Wisconsin, and many other states, if you work in a certain job, you pay union dues whether you want to or not.  Well, not in Wisconsin any more.  This is really what has the union, and Democrats upset.  The government-enforced, perpetual cash flow from the Wisconsin state worker to the Wisconsin Democrat party has just been put in check.  Now, only those who want to pay money to Democrats will actually give money to Democrats.  The union parasite has lost a bloodline.

Finally, you can’t strip a right.  You can deny a right, but the right still exists.  You have your rights because they are provided to you by your creator.  The state can not give you a right, they can only give you a privilege.  Driving is not a right.  Health care is not a right.  Collective bargaining so you can rape the American taxpayer is not a right.  Those are privileges granted to those who live in this country.  Life is a right.  Liberty is a right.  The pursuit of happiness is a right.  The other talents, opportunities, and privileges granted each of us are gifts.

The chant in Wisconsin from the looney liberal protestors called for Gov. Walker’s removal.  These parasites have nearly drained the state dry, done millions in damage to the state capital while throwing their little tantrum, and even made death threats against those they opposed.  The governor has stuck to his guns, done what he has said, made the tough choices, and fulfilled his promise to the voters who elected him to office.  He has pulled a fang from the union parasite, slowing the flow of money.  It is a first step, but an important one, and it will be repeated several more times, in several other states before 2012.

Hey hey, ho ho, that union parasite has got to go.
