A Look at the Liberal Mind Part Two

Brushfire of Freedom

Ram Rants

The second part of our trip through the liberal mind would appear to be unnecessary only because it is a corollary to the first.  After all, if Liberals are never wrong, then it only goes to follow that Conservatives are never right.  Yet this particular aspect of the mind of Liberals results in unique behaviors and should thus be viewed as a separate aspect rather than simply as the result of the first.

The first facet of social and political discourse impacted by this aspect is the ability to continue valid discourse.  While discussing a subject with someone who is never wrong can be frustrating and fruitless, the idea that a conservative is never right has a significant effect on the liberal mind.  For one, the conservative opinion is never worth consideration if only because it is conservative.  Were a Conservative to declare the sky blue, the typical liberal would dismiss this as some conspiracy against the color aqua.  The idea that Conservatives are never right results in the immediate rejection of conservative ideas by the liberal mind.

The result is an ever-constricting, self-perpetuating liberal “shell” that surrounds the liberal mind.  These shells are most evident in academia, but they exist as well in various media outlets and government bodies.  The liberal mind uses the concept that Conservatives are never right to justify their ignorance of conservative ideals.  It is easy to see the result of this concept any time you talk with a Liberal.  Many times you will hear them espouse conservative points in support of some policy or proposal, i.e. the extension of the Bush tax cuts.  But point out this fact to a liberal and they will begin a twisted and nearly incoherent rant as they attempt to prove to you that the point they just made is not conservative.  When pressed, they will tell you that the concepts are too complex for your feeble mind, then move on to another topic.  Interestingly they will respond the same way to Liberals when similarly confronted.  For the liberal mind it is important that all positions and ideals be purged of any hint of conservatism lest the ideal or position be considered invalid.

As the true liberal purges themselves of any and all conservative thought or influence, they consider themselves further enlightened and more open minded.  From their position this makes them more open minded even though they are excluding an entire dimension of thought from their discourse.  This is evident in the efforts by the left to eliminate conservative media outlets and access, all in the name of “Fairness”.  They ignore the stifling effect of the “Fairness” Doctrine on media and the subsequent explosion of radio and television when the doctrine was lifted.  These things were bound to happen anyway.  The “Fairness” Doctrine ensures a free and open exchange of ideas, at least from the perspective of the liberal mind.  The fact that the impact of such practice is to create a band of censorship enforced by the media outlets is ignored as fallacy, though the evidence is clear from the previous implementation.  Those facts are simply conservative arguments, and thus automatically invalid without any further discussion.

Unfortunately the elimination of conservative ideas from academia is nearly complete.  One must attend a university dubbed “Conservative” or “Christian” (and thus inferior) to hear any serious discussion of conservative ideas.  Most academicians are registered Democrats, or unregistered liberals, and tend present conservative ideas in their classrooms only to demonstrate their idiocy.  Students who present conservative arguments as part of their work are sometimes openly ridiculed and accused of a closed-minded approach to the work.  The ideas themselves are never openly debated as they are simply not worthy of consideration.  One needs go no further than Ben Stein’s “Expelled” to witness the effect of this aspect of the liberal mind in academia.

The idea that conservatives are always wrong prevents the type of intellectual self-evaluation needed for true intellectual growth.  Eventually liberal thought becomes stagnant and rotten.  The liberal then comes to a point where they must choose between true intellectual growth or the perpetual shell of liberalism.  In some cases, like that of Dennis Miller, the arguments against conservative ideas become so pointless and idiotic that the individual begins to reject liberalism outright.  This results in immediate expulsion from the elite liberal class but also an intellectual awakening where all ideas are worth consideration.  It other cases it creates Nancy Pelosi where the individual will attempt to adopt conservative ideas while claiming them as liberal enlightenment.  The creation of the racism industry is the result of the latter.

So Conservatives, be aware that in talking with liberals, they are always right and you are always wrong.  They are not listening to your ideas because they are not worthy of consideration.  It is an unfortunate but true fact, and an aspect of the frightening liberal mind.
