2010 Rants

Brushfire of Freedom

Ram Rants

There are a few things left to be said about 2010, a few rants still left in the bucket that need to come out so that 2011 will be a fresh start.  I may re-hash a couple of topics, but hey, a guy’s gotta get it off his chest, right?

First and foremost, America woke up from the hypnotic dream that was Obama and discovered he is in fact a socialist.  Unfortunately the lapdogs in “The Media” did not and they continue to lick his boots and kiss his...well, you know. The media rightly painted the elections of 2010 as a loss for Barry and his aristocratic cohorts, but immediately repainted him as his party's savior when the “tax cut compromise” hit the streets.  These were the same tax cuts that the media, Obama, Nancy, Harry, and every other liberal had blamed for the 2008 recession.  Suddenly, after the 2010 elections, it was imperative that these cuts be extended to protect the “recovery”. Now we have some knowledge of what the tax structure will be in 2011 and guess what?  People are shopping, business is hiring, and there we are seeing some signs of a real economic recovery.  The media doesn’t have this story, and never will, because it goes against their Keynesian philosophy of economics.

Some good news for 2010 and forward.  The “Criminal Amnesty Plan” (CrAP), frighteningly referred to as the “Dream Act”, has been put to bed.  This of course is no thanks to Harry Reid who, in an effort to pay back the crooks that managed to get him re-elected, tried to shove this nightmare through the Senate during his last moments of real power.  He failed, and America will benefit now that CrAP has been flushed, at least for the next two years.

2010 saw the passage of Obamacare as Barry, Harry, and Nancy prodded, padded, and pushed through a monstrosity that will be a burden on this nation for decades.  Evidence of Obamacare’s pending failure lies in the 200+ exemption applications that have been filed and approved.  These exemptions give certain businesses the power to ignore aspects of Obamacare.  Their only option, discontinue health care for their employees.  Not that this isn’t part of Obama’s plan, but just not yet.  He needs to get his minions addicted to the subsidy (like Social Security) before he can eliminate other options. If you think that’s a stretch, spend some time reading the bill.  You will have done more than most of those who voted for it.

The Financial “Reform” bill passed as well, giving the government a multitude of new powers over our economy, and potentially creating a whole new industry in our financial sector.  In case you were not aware, stock options, the recent enemy of the common man, is a direct result of Clinton’s tax increases in the 1990’s.  Bill’s outrageous tax levels on CEO pay resulted in the creation of new compensation methods for executives as a work around for the tax structure.  Thus stock options came into being.  As they were not salary, they could not be taxed at the higher rate.  You can expect banks and other financial firms to create similar strategies to get around the new regulations that will flow from the latest effort by Barry to block progress.

And just out of curiosity, how can financial “reform” not include Fannie May and Freddie Mac?  These two government-run institutions were at the heart of the 2007 / 2008 meltdown.  Oddly the last time Libs took on Wall Street, they exempted their own little piggy bank from the regulatory firing line.  It was those exemptions and exclusions that resulted in F&F becoming the focal point for the bad loans that led to the financial fall out.  So how do we address that shortcoming in 2010?  Well, if you listen to Libs, just ignore it.

Ah, 2010, we hardly knew you.  You flew in and out in one short year and now we must look to 2011 and 2012 in an effort to repair the damage done.  We look forward to the coming year with hope for real change, for improvements.  As we close we say goodbye to:

Speaker Pelosi

Dem Majority in Both Houses

CrAP

Several RINO’s including Arlen and Charlie

Several career politicians including Russ and Bart

Here’s to 2011.  All of us at Brushfire wish you and yours the happiest of New Years.
