I'm not buying it. You can do that later. The oil does not need to be changed today. And no, you can't say later that you meant to, but got busy at work and didn't make it in time. Not going to fly brother, not this time. Yes, I know your wife wanted you to pick up that "thing", and sure the cable company is coming between 12:00 and 4:00.
So what?
How long are you going to make excuses? Man up. Get up, get your shoes on and go. We need you. I don't want to hear you have a headache anymore than you want to hear it from your wife. Stop talking a good game and get into the real game. You took a hit? Shake it off, get up and give one back. You have a cold? Take a pill. Your sinuses are not my concern and they shouldn't be yours either.
This is important.
This isn't about you, your issues, worries or concerns. It damn sure isn't about that "thing" you have to pick up. This is about your children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. This is about their future and the world you leave for them to inherit. This is about all of us, this is about the entire country.
This is about your country.
The country that gave you a shot, the land that gave you the gift of freedom, the nation that gave you a chance at happiness that exists nowhere else on this misbegotten world. This is the only real chance you will ever have to make sure those gifts live beyond you. Do you understand me?
This is for all the marbles.
Call your brother. Yes, I know he still owes you that money. I don't care. Call him and tell him to get off his can too. Call your parents. They just need you to tell them this is important. Knowing your mother she will jump at the chance. Call your friend at work. Yes, that guy. The economy is all you two talk about at lunch. Make sure he is going to the precinct and casting his vote too.
