The Irritable Pundit

Hello all,

So Juan Williams is fired from Nation Public radio (NPR) for going on Bill O'Reilly's show and saying the following: "I mean, look, Bill, I'm not a bigot. You know the kind of books I've written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous."  (The video is here)

Now, a quick quiz: Juan Williams was the victim of:

A) NPR/Leftist intolerance

B) Political payback for appearing on FOX news

C) Fear of Islam

I've read many good posts on A or B.  C? Not so much. The real kicker is that sadly "C" is the actual answer. Now to be fair, Megyn Kelly was close when she interviewed Ibrahim Hooper, the communications director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and asked him "Are you happy now?"

I've also heard a few comments likening this episode to Jesse Jackson's comments about "a white vs a black man following him". Specifically Jackson once said, "There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery. Then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved..." I understand you believe Jackson is hypocritical for not rising to Juan's defense for simply sharing similar feeling s in a different context. You are right of course, however Jackson is more than just a hypocrite, he is afraid and that is the real issue.

The elephant in the room is fear.

Specifically, fear of Islam and the extreme reactions the more fanatical adherents of that religion can have to the simplest of provocations. One after another, the members of the west capitulate out of fear.  Whether its the Spanish government buckling under to terrorist acts like the Madrid train bombing  or media conglomerates running away from possibly offending Islamic sensibilities (but not any other religion's concerns) the single emotion they feel is fear and their reaction is always to run.

You'd think they were all French.

Here is the bottom line. CAIR called out Juan Williams after his comment and NPR buckled under the simple pressure of a phone call from that Islamic organization almost immediately. Cowards, the left, one and all.

Happily we on the right have Megyn Kelly and I'd put that little spitfire up against any of them any day.  She reminds me of Mrs. Irritable Pundit in a way, just shorter. Which brings up another thing the left is deathly afraid of, conservative women. In this at least they are right to be afraid. Believe me. If you ever saw Mrs. Irritable Pundit (aka "Her Royal Hotness") perform a high round-kick in WuShu, you'd know what real fear is.

That reminds me, I need to go to class and work on my blocks.

See you next week!
