The self-imposed exile of vacation is over, and we return to our usual snark. Lets get right to it shall we?
Change has come. I mean it. BIG Change has come. REALLY HUGE GIANT COLOSSAL BIG CHANGE has come to the Democratic party, also known as "The People's Party".
Side note: "The People's Party" sounds rather communist doesn't it? Just so you know, I am not taking liberties with their name. "Democratic" is Greek in origin, specifically "δημοκρατία (demokratia)" meaning "rule of the people". So the party of the rule of the people, is in fact "The People's Party".
Side note #2: I should also point out that the earliest Democrats (not the formal party from the mid-1800s, but the people in the 1700s who originally began referring to themselves as such) were actually pro French in all matters, used faux upperclass European mannerisms and were viewed as antagonistic, rude, snobbish and generally interested in destroying the fledgling egalitarian institutions of America. In fact, George Washington once said that those who called themselves Democrats, "...will leave nothing unattempted to overturn the Government of this Country." Yup, the Democratic party of now would have fit in well with the Democratic party of then. Apparently very little has changed since George's days.
UNTIL NOW! Because the Democratic party has now TRULY changed!
What have they changed you ask? Their logo!
This is the new face of the Democrat party. View it and know despair!
I am at a loss here people. You mean to tell me that a bunch of Democrats got together to make a plan to stave off defeat in November and this is what they came up with?
"All-right people, the Republican's are going to slaughter us! We have 10% unemployment with no end in sight. The markets are getting weaker and no one is buying houses. More layoffs are announced everyday! What can we do?"
"Chill out Nancy! I've got this. We need a new LOGO! Look at what I've drawn! HA HA! Not feelings so sure about Novembers elections NOW are you Republicans!! HA HA!"
"Brilliant Barry! Print it up! This should settle down those Tea Party people once and for all!"
At this point you just have to shake your head. It is understandable though if you think about it. It was marketing hype and pixie dust that got Obama and the Democrats elected in the first place -- style over substance, focus groups and slogans over actual ability or understanding. That they would turn to more useless symbolism is to be expected. In reality the Democratic party has a long history of wrecking things when they actually take the reins. With that in mind I propose a "change" to the logo.
Much more accurate. Although If I really wanted to give the Democrats advice about how to handle their fears about the upcoming election I would make one more adjustment.
November is coming friends, November is coming.
