Empire Crumbling

A bit of a short note for our friends on the left.  Don’t look now, but your empire is crumbling.  There’s just a bit of brick missing around the edges, and some of the keystones are starting to show their age.  I’ve noticed you’ve been making efforts to mend, but considering the potential depth of some of the damage, it is unlikely you will get things repaired well enough to survive a potential disaster in November.

The recent primary elections are a definite crack in the base.  Several key liberal incumbents suffered losses, or barely slipped by with victories.  Most notably is the liberal icon Arlen Specter (D-PA) who lost a primary in spite of his effort to save himself from defeat by switching parties.  Not that he was ever really a Republican, but Dems didn’t want him either, despite his support from Obama.

There are a few cracks in the punditry as well, with James Carville coming out with what might be considered scathing commentary on Obama’s incompetence.  Jimmy boy is clearly concerned that the Obama coat tails will drag down the Dem majority in November, destroying nearly a decades worth of work on his part.  With no Bush to demonize, Jimbo finds himself struggling to find someone to blame for the abject failures of Congress.

The normally steadfast State Run Media is fraying a bit around the edges, with articles in the Washington Post and New York Times taking Obama to task on some of his recent failures.  We’ve even heard some complaints from his most faithful followers, Chris Matthews and Bill Maher who want Obama to get medieval on BP to get things fixed in the Gulf of Mexico.  Granted neither Matthews or Maher have much in the way of credential or intellectual prowess, but it is interesting to note their tone is much less fawning that it has been in the past.

Sarah Palin, the woman the left loves to hate, demonstrated in the June primaries that her political clout was worth more than Obama’s.  Those candidates backed by Palin showed overwhelming success compared to Obama’s near perfect zero when it comes to backing the winning horse.  This despite almost 18 months of constant assaults, attacks, ridicule, and smears from the left and their lackeys in the media.  If all that effort earns so little success, how will they continue to shore up the foundation of their power?

Speaking of foundations, unions took a major beating in the June primaries.  The commentary being discussed included the word “flush” when it came to $10 million in campaign cash for the primaries.  When you have the media in your pocket, and your pocket lined with tons of union funds, you would expect your candidates to win in landslides.  Instead the unions are beginning to wonder if any amount of money will help them in November, which means they are less likely to part with their cash.  This would mean a reduction of much-needed funding for libs in the general elections, and an even more likely loss if Obama were to add his approval to their candidates.

Nancy Pelosi was heckled, which never happens when she picks the crowd.  Harry Reid, the third head of the dragon, is facing a significant challenge for his seat in November.  If he loses he will become the second Democrat Senate Majority Leader to lose an election.

Immigration has become a losing battle for libs thanks in large part to Jan Brewer and the conservative congress in Arizona.  Barry has had to back away from his assault on Brewer because Brewer refuses to back down.  His efforts to bully Gov. Brewer only demonstrated his complete incompetence when it comes to governing.  This has been amplified by governors along the gulf coast who’s efforts to prevent further damage to their coastlines are being thwarted by Obama’s massive bureaucracy.

There are several cracks in the liberal power base as well.  The previously mentioned Pelosi heckling came from those who have been Dem supporters.  Some of the Hollywood left are raising eyebrows, and making comments, about Obama’s inability to manage the affairs of state.  Those whose hearts lay in Israel find it hard to believe Barry’s position on the recent Gaza blockade event, and the normally trustworthy environmentalists are less than pleased with the BP oil situation as well as the delay of Cap-and-Tax.  The massive doves on the left are getting annoyed that Gitmo is still open and that our forces are still in Afghanistan.  Lastly, his friends in the gay community are still waiting on Obama to lift “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”.

With all this internal crumbling comes the assault of the people, evident in the primaries and rising as November approaches.  Things are looking shaky for our friends on the left, and the elections are less than five months away.  Time will tell if their empire will crumble, but it is clear that damage will occur.
