But, but...BUSH!

The Irritable Pundit

Hello all,

I get awesome responses to some of these columns. Most responses I get via email (sometimes 2nd or 3rd hand oddly enough) however for some reason I've gotten more Obamabot responses from Twitter than anywhere else. These Obamabot tweets on twitter, "Obama Twits" if you will, are usually quite painful to read. There is nothig wrong with Twitter itself, its just that standard lefty talking points do not translate well with limited characters. Pretty much all you get is "But, but ...Bush did X!" Followed by a remark on my lack of "respect" for the office if not Obama himself. Then the tiny little hate-note ends with some ill-used Yiddish slang. Proving simultaneously their general inability to think for themselves and their predilection for late night reruns of Jerry Seinfeld. I'm not sure which is more sad.

Lets go over a couple of Obama Twit talking points, and I promise to be respectful to Obama from here on. Really, I do.

1) But, but.... Bush increased the deficit with reckless spending!

Sure.  However its a matter of scale.  Comparing Bush-level deficit spending to Obama's (Blessed be his name!) simply doesn't work.  Its like the difference between you borrowing money from Mom & Dad to pay for school books (as you drank away the cash you meant  to spend on ECON 404) vs Bernard Madoff''s 50 Billion+ Ponzi scheme.  The difference is so vast as to be stunning.

2) But, but.... Bush took away our privacy!

Yep, those warrantless wiretaps of cell conversations with suspected terrorists really did occur.  I'll even let Obama (Peace be upon him!) off the hook for continuing them as I agree with the need.  What I don't agree with is the Obama (May his camels never fart!) administration arguing for expanded powers to include any call, and also invoke immunity for the government against legal redress.  Wow.

3) But, but.... Bush took more vacation time than any president ever!

Bush spent a lot of time in Crawford. He did not give up power or stop working.  Crawford was known as "The Western Whitehouse" for a reason people. Bush just wanted away from Washington games, as he had actual issues to deal with. Can't blame him. Obama (Gloriously are his pants creased!) could be said to be doing the same thing, but its hard to watch over the Western World while sinking a birdie.

You can pretty much just go on and on with these. But I don't want to actually defend Bush as (wait for it) I do not like him. Yes, I am serious. Don't get me wrong, I am truly grateful he was President on 9/11. That day would have been just the beginning of our troubles with Gore in charge.  But the whole "squishy but well meaning conservative" thing just does not sit well with me. I do not like blue-blood Rockefeller RINO Republicans, regardless of intent. Never have, never will.

I bring this up then for a completely different reason.  Namely that the constant "Bush was the bogey man!" response to any criticism of Barack Hussein Obama (May all the fleas in Kenya infest his enemies armpits!) is played out.  Listen up liberals, even if we couldn't knock down your DNC & MSNBC approved talking points, the plain truth is no one particularly gives a tinker's damn about Bush anymore. Bush has not run for election in over 5 years. He is gone, and I mean well and truly gone. Like Madonna's career, his name has been kept alive only by media themes, while no one in the real world remotely cares.

Barack Hussein Obama (May his hemorrhoids never itch!) is on his own, and from now on is going to have to take care of himself without Bush.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.
