The latest figures estimate that Obama's spending is expected to generate an average of 1 trillion dollars in deficits -- each year.
1 trillion a year. Wow.
We used to talk in terms of billions in the US economy. Even that we didn't actually understand. We thought we did of course, but we never really got it deep down inside. Numbers along that line defy intuitive grasp. 1 trillion dollars in deficits each year. What does that really mean? Well, a trillion is a "1", followed by 12 zeros, but that doesn't really explain it. A trillion is a thousand billions, which are each a thousand millions. So take a million, times that by a thousand, then times that new pile O money a thousand times again. Got it? That is what Obama is spending beyond the money we actually have, each year, for the next 10 years.
What's that? Still hard to understand that stack of bills?
How about this, that stack of 1 trillion dollars weighs almost 1.1 million tons. Does that help? No? How about if I asked you to count the money? If each dollar took you 1 second to pick up and count, you would be finished in just under 32,000 years. Of course you couldn't actually count the stack even if you did live 32,000 years, as the stack would be approximately 67,900 miles high. Get a long ladder, a space suit, a thermos from the fountain of youth, and start counting people.
Just tell me when you are ready for a snickers break.
Do you grasp the immensity of a trillion now? That is the money Obama is spending, with no way to pay it back, each year. Who is going to pay for it? Our children, our grandchildren, and our great grandchildren of course. By borrowing against the future we are dropping the costs of our spending binge directly into their not-yet-born laps.
They will curse our names, and we will deserve it if we let this come to pass. This is generational theft on a scale never before imagined (much less attempted). Our generation, in feckless cowardice, will hopelessly and permanently cripple the economies of our descendants. Democrats constantly say "Think of the children" and they do -- they think of them as credit cards.
Well, that and beauty treatments. Didn't you hear? There is promising research into reversing age-related wrinkles by injecting fetal stem cells. Just sacrifice an unborn child, and your skin can be supple and smooth! Wow! What will they think of next? Frankly I'm not sure I want to find out. I weep for the soul of humanity. We are a generation living off of our own young. We are ghouls.
Can't we, just once, do the right thing?
