Brushfire of Freedom
The Irritable Pundit
Hello all,
When it comes to Obamacare and the Democrats never-ending cries of, "We must pass the bill NOW!™, the question "Why?" is not as important as you think. What you and I should pay attention to is, "How?".
The Democrats intend to win by the simple expedient of never admitting defeat.
They are going to push, push again, then push more. Pelosi and her hurricane facelift will be on TV every day. Obama will continue to give hundreds of speeches to his sycophantic talking-head brigade. Reid will wake up, mumble something incoherent to anyone not currently attending a seance, and then go back to his crypt. The thinking is that, sooner or later, the opposition will fold simply from mental fatigue and emotional exhaustion.
Want to know something scary? It might be working.
Don't get me wrong. The opposition is still active and end result is not guaranteed for the Democrats, but the energy of the opposition does feel as if it is starting to flag.
Hundreds of thousands of good people have taken part in Tea Parties and rallies and congressional meetings. They have gone to Washington, placards in hand, and voiced their outrage. They have burned up the phone lines of Congressional Representatives and radio stations and anyone else who would listen. They have taken a Kennedy's seat for heaven's sake, and every poll shows their anger is still alive and kicking. But nothing has changed, the train keeps rolling, and many people are starting to wonder, "What is the point?". All that effort and they still continue forward.
There has been a notable lowering of volume. A pause. A lull.
This of course is exactly what Pelosi, Reid and Obama hoped. That the public would get tired. That the never ceasing drumbeats would outlast resistance. The Democrats are driving with what seems a renewed sense of vigor, but it isn't some suicidal leap as Rush and others have characterized it.
(Note: That is not to say their actions are not political suicide, they may well be, but that is not the impetus.)
The Democrats are charging headlong because they too have sensed the stall in the wind. They feel the hesitation and are pushing to take advantage of the slight weakening in resolve.
They could be right you know. This could be the moment for which they have hoped. But then again, this could also be the calm before the storm, the inhalation before the angry shout.
What's that you ask? What do I think this lull is?
Hmmm... hard to say, but I'm thinking galoshes and ear muffs would be a good fashion choice.?
