Brushfire of Freedom
The Conservative Cowboy
This week we will be looking at another flaw in the armor of our president’s agenda, you know his whole campaign idea that he will not raise taxes on anyone that makes over $250,000 per year. First of all I still have no idea how he came up with that number as the cut off, but that doesn’t matter, I can still prove that he is trying to do this already. Now I am going to choose a few examples I have one at the state level, and one at the federal level. Now please keep in mind that the state level tax is not brought about by the president, but my state’s government is unfortunately controlled by idiots with the same ideologies as the idiots in Washington.
First of all we will look at the Federal level tax. Now as most people that purchase something via the internet know, you do not pay state sales tax on that purchase, because of course logistics would be very difficult for the company selling the product. All the paperwork that it takes to pay one state’s sales tax now multiply that by 50, not to mention all of the international sales that would take place. I can already see where companies will try to hide from this unfair tax. Anyways the government now wants to require every purchase made on the internet to be taxed appropriately. Their reasoning, I know that you were waiting impatiently for this, internet companies hold an unfair advantage over local businesses because of they do not need to pay tax.
Now aside from the fact that they are two totally different business styles and they each have their own competitive advantage. For the internet companies their advantage is that consumers can research the product and read reviews about how well it works prior to the purchase, as well as the fact that the consumer can do this 24 hours a day. Now as for the local businesses their competitive advantage is that many people do not want to wait for the internet company to ship the material and the possible damage that can occur in transit, and the fact that many people want to actually see and touch something before they buy. So you see each company holds a different competitive advantage and they are on the same playing field because of this, there might be a few people that try to stick it to the government and only buy online so they don’t have to pay tax but for the majority of people there are many other contributing factors on where they shop and why.
Now let’s move on to the local tax that is completely out of this world. The state of Colorado is very close to passing a tax on soda and candy. Now they want to do this because of course anyone who drinks soda and eats candy is obese, and obesity is destroying this country. Now the real reason they are doing this is because they know that a very large majority of the people in this country eat candy and drink soda, and our state is facing a huge budget shortfall. So they want to increase the price of soda and candy to increase revenue, but they tell the media that it is because they want to discourage people from buying more soda and thus we will all lose weight. I wonder how that is working out when they raised the taxes on cigarettes, or the taxes on liquor, or the tax on gasoline. Maybe it is just me but I see just as many smokers’, drinkers and people driving in cars as I did before the tax hikes on those products.
So our president is raising taxes on everyone and justifying it because you have a choice to buy goods online or buy a Pepsi. Now I want to challenge everyone that reads this to track how much money they spend in on month on taxes. Now when you track how much you spend in taxes for an entire month there is no need to differentiate between federal, social security, Medicare, state income tax, property tax(divide the total you pay per year by 12), and the other various local sales taxes that you spend every day. Now keep in mind that you will not be able to track everything because luxury taxes are just built into the cost of the goods. Things like the tax on gasoline and the price of cigarettes. I think that many people in this country would be amazed at how much money the put into the state and local government, and surprised at how that money really doesn’t pay for anything but a headache anytime you have to go to a business that is run by government employees.
Take a trip to the DMV and tell me that I am wrong.
