Sleight of Hand

 Brushfire of Freedom

The Conservative Cowboy

You may be wondering why I am using a magician’s bread and butter move as the title of a blog that is based on political issues.  Well to put it simply I think that Obama is the perfect example of this technique.  My first example that proves this point was in his election campaign.  He focused his entire campaign on Change; blaming the previous administration for all of the country’s problems and told the people that his administration would be different.  Where the sleight of hand technique came in was in the fact that he never produced any plans for how he was actually going to achieve that change.  When asked the specifics about his plan he spoke in generalizations.  Things like fixing health care so everyone can afford to insure themselves and their families.  That was about as much detail as he would go into in his campaign.  I think that he used this technique because the people would not have voted for him if he laid out his plan of the government’s takeover of many of the major industries in the US; banks, Auto and now health insurance.

Fast forward to today, the thing that is catching all of the media’s attention is the health care debate, and that is probably one of the biggest pieces of legislation that he is trying to shove down our throats.  With this being a major overhaul of the current system there is no wonder why it is catching everyone’s attention.  However, there was a bill that passed in the house with little or no media attention that is as bad in my mind as the government take over of healthcare.  I am talking about the student loan program.  The government will no longer subsidized private banks for student loans.  Now the House feels that this will cut wasteful spending and save money.  What I see with this takeover is that there is no longer any competition or option for students to get funding for higher education.  The government has full control over every student loan in the country.

The banking industry has been one of the hardest hit in this recession and the government just took another way for the banks to make money.  Private student loans are a good thing, for the simple fact that they are a good way for young Americans to establish a good credit score and a good relationship with a bank.  These two items are crucial in this country for many different reasons.  Installment loans, not revolving credit cards, are the best way to show responsible use of credit.  This also provides a good start of a relationship with a private bank that could eventually handle this young person’s mortgage and car loans in the future.  Establishing a good relationship with the federal government is not going to help these people when they go to buy a house or a car.

So with that being said we need to keep our eyes and ears open to what Obama’s real agenda is, it is not to help the people of this country it is to push for more government control.  He is chipping away at private enterprise, which for this country is the reason our economy is number one in the world.  Obama is very good at keeping the people’s attention on one item while he rushes through different legislation that is increasing the government’s role in the everyday life of the people.

There are many different problems facing our great nation and the answer is not more government control.

To me Obama is nothing more than a glorified magician, the fear comes to me with the fact that this magician is running our government.  We need to be informed about the truth now more than ever, skeptical about things that sound too good to be true, and hold true to the foundation on which this great nation was built.
