 Brushfire of Freedom

Ram Rants

Wow, last week was quite a week.  So many things, so little space.  With all that’s going on, it’s a wonder that a mild-mannered member of “The Mob” can even keep his or her head on straight.  So, rather than focus on a specific item this week, I’ll just throw out some tidbits on a few key issues.  Call it a “goulash” blog.

First, to the real mob in Pittsburgh.  The G-20 (formerly the G-7, soon to be the G-5,000) is having another sit-down in The Steel City to determine which direction the leftists would like us to go next.  Meanwhile, the more radical leftists march in the streets protesting the conference.  Violence ensues, people are arrested, tear gas is spent, etc.  Each time the “G-Bunch” gets together, the spirit of the left becomes visible.  The interesting part of all this of course is the coverage.  Just a few weeks ago Conservatives protested in the nation’s capital without so much as a peep.  The coverage could be considered disdainful at best.  Motives were questioned, numbers were skewed, and accusations were made by our “unbiased” professional media.  Now we have riots in the streets in Pittsburgh, but no one is questioning funding, motives, etc.  If it seems odd to you, it should and shouldn’t.  After all, this is not the first time the media has demonstrated an appalling bias, just one of the more recent.

The best thing out of this mess was the Wall Street Journal special on the re-birth of Pittsburgh, all of the improvements and the changes.  It’s wonderful to see another great American city being refurbished.

Now to the United Nations.  A lot to go through here, so I’ll touch on a few of the more interesting points.  First is “Mo” from Libya.  Aside from the fact the man is a raving looney, his insane rambling actually forced his personal interpreter to the ground.  Evidence that insanity may well be contagious.

Then “Mookie” from Iran gets up and, surprise, admits he’s building another nuke plant.  Well, at least Barry acted surprised.  Actually, the US has suspected the existence of this plant since 2002, and Barry was told about it when he took office.  Of course, when President Bush brought this to the attention of then-Senator Obama a few years ago, Barry called Bush a liar.  Openly.  In public.  Like Joe Wilson, only without the accuracy.  Now we get the “I’m so shocked” act from Barry.  Spare me.

Of course, no summary can be complete without a note on Barry’s comments.  After yet-again apologizing for the success of the U.S., he promised to never let it happen again.  This made many leaders with emerging economies smile and laugh, knowing that Barry was basically pulling his horse out of the race.  It also made Mookie rather bold.  He even cited several of Barry’s comments as evidence that the U.S. agreed with Iran.  Nice job, Barry, you’ve just emboldened a mad man with nukes.  I feel safer already.

The highlight of the whole U.N. thingy was Prime Minister Netanyahu.  He “brought it” to Mookie and friends saying, “Yesterday, the man who calls the Holocaust a lie spoke from this podium. To those who refused to come and to those who left in protest, I commend you. You stood up for moral clarity, and you brought honor to your countries. But to those who gave this Holocaust denier a hearing, I say on behalf of my people, the Jewish people, and decent people everywhere, have you no shame? Have you no decency?"  Look around you, Mr. Prime Minister.  You have many who are not your friends sitting with you in that building, and that unfortunately includes our president.

Now to health care.  A lot here as well.  The “debate” continues with Dems calling it a crisis and screaming for an immediate solution before the world comes to an end, or some such thing.  There are tax increases, discussions of limited coverage, and potential reductions in existing government programs.  All so Barry and Company can have more control over your life.  Any GOP submitted amendment is being rejected by the Dems, and in some cases they won’t even come to the floor.  That includes an amendment requiring a 72-hour window to allow the bill to be read before the vote.  So much for transparency and post-partisanship.

The economy is getting better, or worse, or stagnant, depending on which pundit you listen to and what numbers they present.  The stimulus fixed the economy, or maybe not, or had no impact, again depending on the source.  The fact is, the economy will do what all economies do, and that is cycle.  The only certainty regarding the stimulus is that it put this nation and her people further into debt to countries like China, who does not exactly have our best interest at heart.  Yes, thanks to Barry, Harry, and Nancy, your children will owe the Chinese government more than any Chinese citizen.

Terrorism popped up this past week, with threats, trials and arrests in several U.S. cities.  Good thing Bush put all that anti-terror infrastructure in place, or Dallas and New York might have very different sky lines.  The terrorist nut job in Dallas is rumored to be an illegal immigrant, so I guess he’ll get health care soon.    Meanwhile, Barry and the bunch want to reduce the number of border agents we have patrolling the boundaries of our country.  So, we have illegal immigrants planning to blow up buildings and we solve the problem by opening the borders.  Good thinking, Barry.

Finally, many of you have seen the video of school children singing the praises of Obama.  Now you understand why he said this is not a Christian nation.  It is truly becoming an “Obamanation”.
