Brushfire of Freedom

Let me begin this week with a brief discussion on “projection”. When a person “projects”, they make certain assumptions about another person’s behavior, actions, or thoughts based on their own action, behavior or thoughts. In other words, they assume that they are normal, right-thinking individuals, and so is everyone else, so if they think a certain way, so does everyone else. This is not unusual. Fact is, most of our personal bias and filters are based on our own ideas, perceptions, etc. We all project.
However, our friends on the Liberal Left seem to project more than others. Not only that, but they seem to project their most vile and repulsive ideals on everyone else. It is their assumption that they are right thinking, and therefor all of the rest of us think like them. This projection of their perspectives has resulted in several inaccurate assumptions that I call “The Ists”. I would like to list a few “Ists” as examples of their perpetual projection.
First of all, Liberals love to call Conservatives “racists”. They make the incorrect assumption that any opposition, any questioning of an individual who happens to be a minority is in fact an act of racism and thus the person doing the questioning is a “racist”. This has been a popular position of Liberals who have accused every Conservative on the planet of being a racist simply because they oppose BHO’s Socialized medicine. They completely ignore any content of the argument and use this particular “Ist” to stifle all debate. The governor of New York did it, so did several members of Congress. They simply project their racist views onto the general population, then use their “Ist” as a weapon against their enemies.
If you disagree with my assumption that this is projection, take a look at Van Jones or Rev. Wright. How about Jessie Jackson and his comments about Jews? Maybe you should consider Robert Byrd (D) W. Va, former member of the KKK, and leader of the filibuster against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Don’t forget those photos of George Wallace (D), the governor of Alabama standing against segregation in the south. All clearly demonstrated racist tendencies, yet call others racists when they are challenged in a debate. This is clearly a projection of their racial biases onto others.
Another “Ist” that is related to “racist” is “sexist”. We heard this one more when Hillary was First Lady and less when she ran for President. In fact, Liberals began playing the “sexist” card as soon as Hillary entered the race. It later became the race card when it was decided by the Liberals In Charge (LiC’s) that Obama would be their candidate. Sexism is one of those stereotypes that Liberals love to throw at Conservatives. They want to paint Conservatives as “good ol’ boys” who exclude everyone else, including women, from their private little clubs. But if you look at the history, the Libs are far more likely to attack women because they are women. Libs treat Sarah Palin as if she were a complete moron, and Condi Rice received persistent abuse from the liberals in the media and government (racism and sexism). It was Reagan who appointed the first female SC Justice. Women have been a part of many Conservative cabinets, and hold posts of high regard in business as well. Considering how Liberals treat women in power (Hillary, Sarah, Condi) and how Conservatives treat women in power (Sarah, Condi, Sandra O’Connor), it is clear that the sexists tend to hang out on the left. Yet they constantly label Conservatives as sexists. This is once again clearly a projection of their perception on others, and another “Ist” that Conservatives deal with daily.
The last “Ist” is “obstructionist”. This one has taken many forms in the past few years. Libs have labeled Conservatives as “obstructionists” when they have opposed Obamacare, accusing the GOP (falsely) of not having another solution. This is of course the most ridiculous of charges, since the GOP has so little power right now and could not prevent the passage of any bill in either house of Congress. When the GOP did have power, they were accused of preventing Liberals from submitting bills or amendments in Congress. The issue here was that the GOP was simply upholding the rules that Libs had set in place when they had controlled Congress for the 40 years prior to 1994. All the while, Liberals were obstructing the nomination of judges, the passage of laws, and the general flow of business in Washington, even shutting down the government at one point. Not that this is all bad, but if you’re going to call someone an obstructionist, you might want to move your shadow out of the path of progress first. Liberals have used every tool including the filibuster, their state-run-media outlets, and now Union Thugs to obstruct everything from Congressional Legislation and hearings, to an open debate on health care. If you want to know what hit the economy in 2008, you only need to look back five years to the time when Liberals, with Barney Frank in the lead, prevented the Bush administration from increasing regulation on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The reasons for this obstruction? Why the GOP was being racist, of course, and now we come full circle.
So, a note to my dear friends on the left. You are not the only people in this world who project your perspectives on others, so please do not think that I am being a “projectionist”. Yet you seem to project your most negative traits on others, and you do so in order to stifle open debate and discourse. Not every idea presented by Conservatives is a bad idea, nor every Liberal idea the most brilliant or best solution. Hey, look at emancipation, that was Lincoln. So the next time you want to throw out “racist” or “sexist” at a Conservative, consider for a moment the possibility that these are issues for you, not for us. Stop for a moment, and think about the idea that has been presented rather than spew forth some ridiculous label. You may find that we have a good idea, like equality for all races, or maybe even a female Supreme Court justice. It might help us all get along if you would just keep your “Ist” to yourself.
