I Remember Freedom

 Brushfire of Freedom

Ram Rants

Note: This message appears to be a letter transported back in time from some distant future.

I think we are close to the wall because the number of troops has increased significantly.  I’ve estimated about one more night’s walk and we’ll be on the border of The Free Republic.  The kids still think I’m crazy, but I remember freedom.  I remember Liberty.  I remember when America was America.

The GovMot electric car crapped out on day two.  We’ve been walking since, mostly at night, to keep from being seen.  Still, it will all be worth it once we cross the border.  I hope we are still on track.  I had to ditch the GPS when we discovered that Homeland Security was using it to track everyone’s movements.  Little Jackie still has a limp from the rifle shot, but I think she’ll be ok.  The soldier that shot her was not so lucky.  They are all glad I kept that one unregistered 9mm.

The kids have no idea why we’re doing this, but I remember freedom.  I remember a time when the government was of, by, and for the people.  I remember when the people had rights, not the government.  I remember having a choice in schools, cars, professions, and doctors.  I can remember getting in our family minivan and driving across country, seeing the sights and visiting friends and family.  Now, minivans are illegal.  We had to leave almost everything behind when we loaded the GovMot, there was barely room for me and the kids.

Wait till the kids see it.  We’ll be able to buy a house that we want to buy, in a place we want to live.  I can get a job that pays well, a job that I want, and I can work my way up to earn more.  I won’t have to worry about a “Pay Czar” stealing my hard earned money for some new government program.  The kids will be able to go to good schools, not government schools, and they will learn the things I’ve learned.  They will learn of freedom the way I have, by experiencing it, except it will be their future, not my past.  We’ll buy a new car, one that will hold all of us, a dog, and enough food for that trip across The Republic.  There are a lot of sights to see in The Republic.  Not everything great is in The Socialist States.

I remember a time when the states were united.  I remember that the founding documents were almost sacred, and were protected by those elected to serve the people.  Had it not been for the secession of Texas and the other states, all these things would have been lost.  Thank God for Texas, the heart of The Republic.  If we can get to Austin, I can claim asylum for me and the kids.  Then we can start over in a place that is truly free, where the people are still endowed by a creator with certain unalienable rights.  Life, Liberty, and our precious pursuit of true happiness.

That is one thing I think the kids will really enjoy, especially Jackie.  The Central Committee has banned religion based on the statements of their founder, that America was not a Christian nation.  They interpreted that to mean that American was not a religious nation and that as such all religion was illegal.  But that was not the first step.  The health care program, the first step in total Socialism, opened the door to Pandora’s box.  Once they had control of our doctors, they started rationing.  They created new regulations that eliminated much of our freedoms in the name of maintaining a low cost of health care.  Soon after, Texas declared sovereignty and left the United States.  Troops were dispatched, but they forgot that many of our fighting men and women were from the South.  They were our warrior class, and they craved the freedom for which they had fought.  The look on “Our Leader’s” face when the troops turned and set a perimeter around The Republic was worth its weight in gold.  His next step of course was to build the wall to “keep out the bitter clingers” from The Republic.  It’s really designed to keep us in The Socialist States.

Soon after The Republic was formed, people who remembered liberty were headed south.  Then the government took its next step, to disarm the people and leave weapons only in the hands of registered, government “peace troops”.  All those gun laws came back to haunt us as Homeland Security forces marched into our homes and confiscated registered weapons, and any others they could find.  Some people fought, and some died trying to keep their guns.  It took three months for the government to completely disarm every person in the Socialist States.

The last step was the new “Bill of Rights” which stated what the government could do “for the people”.  That’s when they took away our faith, along with a lot of our will to live.  That’s why I have to get the kids to The Republic.  They need to know freedom, liberty, and true choice.  They need to have the opportunities that we once had in America.  It is their right, from God.  I remember freedom, and it’s why I pray an illegal prayer every night that we will become free, and can remain free.
