We Deserve Better

 Brushfire of Freedom

Voice of Adams

The 2010 elections are one year and 108 days away, but who’s counting?  These coming elections will be even more important than 2008 because they will be our best, and possibly last chance to stop the march of Socialism in America.  For nearly 250 years, the people of this nation have fought, and many have died, to establish and preserve Liberty and Freedom for themselves and their posterity.  We as a people, as a nation, deserve better representation than we have today.  We deserve people who want to serve the nation, not be served by the nation.  All of the Representatives in the House are up for re-election, as they are every two years.  One third of those in the Senate are due to stand before the voters next year as well.  This week, let’s review some of those in the Senate that We the People should consider sending home after November, 2010:

Harry Reid (D) Nevada - Reid has been in politics for 42 years and is the leader of the Liberal wing in the Senate.  In 2008 he received a liberal rating of 70% from the Americans for Democratic Action.  Other independent ratings include a 100% rating from NARAL in 2001.  As Senate Majority Leader, Reid is responsible for driving three “stimulus” bills through the Senate in the past 18 months, all which handed trillions of dollars over to special interests of the Democrat party.  Reid has been involved in several scandals, most involving property he has owned and legislation under his sway.  His poll ratings have been as low as 19%, and is currently running in the low 30’s.

Chuck Schumer (D) New York - Schumer has been in politics for 35 years.  He was given a 100% rating by NARAL, the radical pro-abortion group and he was one of the few who voted against the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act.  He also has the distinction of having voted "no" on the impeachment charges of President Bill Clinton in both houses of Congress.  In July 2008, the director of the Office of Thrift Supervision, John Reich, blamed the failure of savings and loan and mortgage originator IndyMac on comments made in late June by Schumer, who sent a publicized letter to the regulator raising concerns about the bank's solvency.  This was was on the first events that led to the eventual downfall of other mortgage giants, and the financial meltdown that followed.  He has asserted that Americans did not care that 'porky' amendments had been inserted into the recent stimulus bill.  Big spender, hard-core Socialist, and all around camera hog, Chucky is in need of some down time.

Chris Dodd (D) Connecticut - Dodd has been in politics since the Nixon administration, more than 35 years.  He is so closely associated with the Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac banking scandals that you can not discuss the topic without mentioning Dodds name.  Chris received substantial donations and special “VIP” loans from Country Wide, even as the lender was failing, a process that is linked to the beginning of the 2008 economic downturn as well.  He was the 2007 top recipient of funds from the Insurance industry, and oddly enough also part of the committee that had significant sway over government policy around the industry.  He favors carbon emissions limits to combat “global warming”, opposed banking reforms that might have prevented the failure of F&F, and submitted amendments to the 2009 “Porkulus” bill that limited CEO pay and gave the treasury department the authority to approve “appropriate” restaurants for client entertainment.  He also ensured his buddies at AIG received nice bonuses by adding another amendment to the Senate stimulus bill.  Chis gets a great deal of cash form those who benefit form his policies, proving it is possible to buy success if you know who to pay.

Barbara Mikulski (D) Maryland - Mikulski has been in politics for nearly 40 years.  She is a former social activist (much like Obama) and voted against the authorization of the use of force in Iraq in both 1991 and 2002, a war that even Obama now considers a success.  She has a 100% pro-abortion voting score from NARAL, and is ranked 17th on the Committed Senate Liberal list by National Journal, making her a “top notch” liberal activist.  She supports Cap and Trade and increased CAFE standards, voted “Yea” on the Pokulus bill, and “Yea” on the Omnibus spending bill.  Mikulski continues to advocate spending on pet projects in her home state, and more pork spending in the Federal budget.  She is a classic “Spend, Spend, Tax” liberal socialist, and will bloat the government to epic proportions if given the chance.  She has many friends now who will help her with her mission, unless we send her home next year.

Arlen Specter (R)  (D) Pennsylvania - The RINO we all love to hate did finally switch back to his home party in 2009.  Arlen has been in politics for 44 years and is considered pro-abortion though he only received a 50% rating from NARAL.  He stood against the impeachment of Bill Clinton, and has a higher approval rating among Democrats than Republicans in his home state.  His most recent and egregious action against this country’s freedom was his turn-coat position in support of the 2009 “stimulus” package which, without his vote and that of two RINO’s from Maine, would not have passed.  Specter was one of three Republicans that changed sides in the Senate and helped drive this nation further toward Socialism by putting an $800B slush fund in the hands of the Democrat President and his lackeys.  This  was just the first step in the Socialist agenda and now, with Arlen safely back in the loving arms of his Liberal cohorts, there is little to stop the march to the left unless we take steps in 2010.

There are many others that deserve a spot on this list.  Russ Feingold, the only Senator to vote against the Patriot Act, Michael Bennit from Colorado, who is simply a party vote for the Liberal left and pays no attention to the issues, and Barbara Boxer, the “Chicken Little” of the Senate who believes if we don’t hand the control of the entire Energy Industry over to the government TODAY, the Earth is doomed.  It is up to us to review the candidates closely as the next election approaches, to educate our fellow countrymen and women, and to cast a vote for Liberty in Freedom in 2010 if for no other reason than we deserve better than these Liberal Senators have to offer.
